Jackson Adult Center is to foster physical, spiritual , mental, economic and social well-being of older adults through service and creative expression for adults 60 years and older. The services that we offer include Case Assistance, Transportation provided for handicapped members, Senior Employment, Assistance and Support Group for Crime Victims, and Consumer Education. Our cultural and recreatio
nal activities include Arts & Craft Classes, Sewing Classes, Drama Group, Inter-Generational Programs, Birthday and Holiday parties, Trips to Theaters, Dinner Shows, Pool Classes and Tournament, Dominoes and BINGO. We also offer personal development programs: Computer Classes, Piano Lessons, Action Coalition (Advocates for issues that affect older adults). The Vision Club brings together and encourages older adults who are visually impaired to participate in all aspects of Center activities. We promote healthy aging by offering through ourSTAY WELL EXERCISE program designed to increase flexibility, mobility, range of motions, cardiovascular endurance and self-esteem. MINDFIT COGNITIVE PROGRAM is a computer based program that help keeps your mind in top shape and increase quality of life. Wii GAMES are the latest in interactive games that help keep you active. Wii FIT PERSONAL TRAINING PROGRAM is a program designed to help you work towards a personal fitness goal of better health. SENIOR STROLLERS WALKING CLUB meet every week to walk at different sites.NUTRITIONAL WORKSHOPS teaches you about the correct foods and portion sizes. Throughout the month we offer BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING AND HEALTH SEMINARS. Membership in the Jackson Center is free of charge and is open to anyone who is at least 60 years old. We invite you to come in for a tour of the center and become a member by completing a membership application.
