A former royal chef who worked for the royal family for more than 15 years has revealed how the late Princess Diana was intent on avoiding red meat and sticking to a low-carbohydrate diet.
Darren O'Grady, who cooked for the Queen at Buckingham Palace for 11 years, went on to work for the Princess of Wales following her unofficial separation from Prince Charles in 1993.
He said Diana - who kept her double apartment on the north side of Kensington Palace following the split - was, for the most part, an extremely healthy eater who avoided carbs at all cost.

Prince William got a special surprise today on a stop to The Passage, a London outreach charity for the homeless. William was at The Passage to officially open its newly renovated St. Vincent’s Centre, which offers support including food, showers, clothing, employment training, and even dormitory space.

This wasn’t Prince William’s first visit to The Passage, though. Way back in 1993 and 1994, he was there with his mother, Princess Diana, and his brother, Prince Harry. The three royals made a big impression, obviously. So big that the staff at The Passage still has photos of the young princes with their mom, and today, they presented Prince William with one of those photos.

Prince William’s recent visit to a homeless charity in London has resulted in a nostalgic trip that made him recall childhood memories. The visit also provided him a rare look at a previous homeless charity trip with his mother, the late Princess Diana.

The Duke of Cambridge visited The Passage on Friday where he was given a special gift, Hello magazine reported. William was gifted a framed photograph of himself as a child, along with his brother Prince Harry and mother Princess Diana. The picture was taken during the late Princess of Wales’ official visit to the homeless charity in 1994.

In the photo, a young William is seen smiling while sitting on top of a table, while Harry sat on his mother’s lap. The throwback photo was presented to the Duke of Cambridge by Homeless ambassador Mark Smith, the report said. Smith also shared how Prince William still recalls the t-shirts that both he and Prince Harry wore at that time. “It was just so touching. He laughed — he found it quite strange that we still had a photograph of him as a child with his mum,” the ambassador reportedly said.

In a speech during the event, the Duke of Cambridge also mentioned his childhood memories and how his previous visits to the homeless charity “left a deep and lasting impression” on him. He also stressed the importance of treating everyone in the society with “respect, dignity and kindness,” especially the poorest members of a community. Prince William reportedly said that everyone should be granted the “opportunities to fulfill their potential in life."
