How a Swiss AI company is influencing Hollywood 🎬🇨🇭
Founded at the EPFL Innovation Park in Lausanne, Largo is a Swiss startup specialized in analyzing audiovisual productions using artificial intelligence. Its platform is already used by more than 600 clients, including production companies, studios and agencies, many of them based in the United States.
The technology analyses scripts, casting choices, and editing to estimate audience reactions, emotional impact, and the potential reach of a project. This helps producers make decisions earlier in the development process.
Several productions using Largo’s tools have already been released in cinemas and on streaming platforms such as Netflix, with some receiving international recognition and award nominations.
The company has also attracted international investors, including actor Sylvester Stallone.

Switzerland is building one of the world’s largest underground battery systems beneath a new AI-focused data centre complex in Laufenburg. 🔋
Swiss developer FlexBase Group partnered with UK company Invinity Energy Systems to install vanadium flow batteries capable of storing 1.5 gigawatt-hours of electricity — enough to power around 200,000 homes for a day.
The project aims to help manage the growing energy demands of AI while reducing pressure on electricity grids. Unlike lithium-ion batteries, vanadium flow batteries can charge and discharge repeatedly with lower fire risk, making them well suited for large-scale data centre infrastructure.
The installation could eventually expand even further as demand for AI computing continues to grow.
Bring your family and cheer on Team Switzerland with us!

How do people cope with living in extreme isolation for months at a time? 🧊
Researchers from the Universität Zürich and Universität Bern studied a 12-person crew stationed for 10 months at Antarctica’s remote Concordia research station, where temperatures can drop to -80°C. Using sensors and psychological surveys, the team tracked how relationships, trust, conflict, and social dynamics evolved over time.
One key finding: constant proximity doesn’t always create stronger bonds. In isolated environments, too much contact can increase tension, while smaller language- or nationality-based groups may form within multicultural teams.
The researchers say the findings could help improve team support during future long-term space missions, as well as in other isolated environments such as submarines and offshore platforms.
Beyond the famous cities, some of the country’s most beautiful spots are its smaller towns and villages. Places like Vevey, Gruyères, Wengen, Montreux, and Soglio offer stunning mountain views, lakeside scenery, historic streets, and a slower pace of travel. 🏔️✨
If you’re looking to explore Switzerland a little off the beaten path, these towns are worth adding to your itinerary: https://ow.ly/M2KM50Z4sVT

EPFL researchers have developed a new 3D printing technique that uses holograms and laser light to create tissue-like structures with remarkable speed and precision. 🧬🖨️
The method is up to 70 times more efficient than previous techniques and can print millimeter-scale objects within seconds and centimeter-scale structures within minutes. In one experiment, researchers successfully printed a life-sized human ear using a gelatin-based resin containing living cells.
Scientists say the innovation could help bring bioprinted implants and regenerative medicine closer to clinical reality, opening new possibilities for reconstructive surgery and biomedical applications.
Fifteenth-century frescoes in the Church of Santa Maria del Castello in Mesocco are set to undergo a new conservation and study project. 🎨
The massive frescoes, created by Lombard painters in the 1400s, are showing signs of deterioration including moisture damage, paint detachment, and salt deposits. Experts from SUPSI are now carrying out detailed monitoring and analysis to help preserve these historic artworks for future generations.
The restoration project will also revisit the history and origins of the frescoes, with new research challenging some long-held interpretations.
After disappearing from Switzerland for decades, the otter is finally returning 🦦.
Recent sightings have been reported across several cantons including Bern, Solothurn, Graubünden, Zurich, Ticino, Lucerne, St Gallen, and Glarus — a hopeful sign for Swiss biodiversity. The species had vanished due to hunting, polluted waterways, and habitat destruction, with the last confirmed sighting dating back to 1989.
Thanks to stronger protection measures and healthier ecosystems in neighbouring countries, otters are slowly making their way back into Swiss rivers and lakes. But conservation groups warn that their return may not last without continued river renaturalisation and stronger protection of fish populations, which otters depend on for survival.
The draw is done — 9 days to go. ⚽ The countdown has officially begun.

Last week at City Hall, Ana Maria Archila, Commissioner of the NYC Mayor's Office for International Affairs, welcomed the Consulate Cup Committee and participating teams for the official draw event as excitement builds toward the tournament.
The matchups were drawn by Alex Lasry, CEO of FIFA World Cup 26™ New York New Jersey (NYNJ) Host Committee — setting the stage for a thrilling competition between diplomatic missions.
Which country will take the trophy this year? You’ll have to show up to find out. 🏆
