Womenâs rights donât disappear on the factory floor. In Haiti, garment workers making clothes for Gapâs Old Navy brand were fired for being pregnant and for organizing together.
Gap knows this violates the law - but it still refuses to act. This is a clear case of pregnancy discrimination and retaliation against union leaders âand Gap has chosen to defend it.
Gap has claimed to be a leader on empowering women for years, but âempowermentâ must include accountability.
Say it with us: Brands donât get credit for values they refuse to enforce.
Thatâs why weâve joined with 30 womenâs & human rights organizations calling on Gap to ensure the reinstatement of the fired workers and the payment of back wages and maternity benefits.
â Head to Gapâs page and tell them to end pregnancy discrimination & protect workers rights!

Like so many of you, weâve been watching in horror and outrage as ICE has descended on communities around the U.S., terrorizing working people and their families. Over the last few months, ICEâs forces have repeatedly focused on the city of Minneapolis, where our long-time partner Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL) organizes. CTULâs base of low-wage workers concentrated in the restaurant and construction industries have been the repeated targets of ICEâs indiscriminate violence.Â
Partners for Dignity and Rights has collaborated with CTUL for many years, building policy solutions and worker-driven campaigns to protect workersâ human rights and end workplace harassment. But much of that work is on hold right now as organizers must focus on defending their community from workplace raids. The attacks on the community are indiscriminate, with people getting picked up and detained regardless of their immigration paperwork.
This week, all eyes are on Minneapolis as an ICE agent shot and killed Renee Nicole Good bringing global attention to the violence and terror the community has been experiencing.Â
Throughout this escalation, construction workers continue to have to report to work, even as ICE agents are known to target building sites. is asking that the property developers who control those building sites take action to secure their worksites and protect the workers they depend on.Â
Can you take a minute to send an email in support of the workers of Minneapolis?

Gap is trying to paper over their supplierâs illegal actions with glitzy holiday decorations. But students showed up at Gap headquarters and at stores across the U.S. during some of the busiest shopping days of the year.
Weâre part of a coalition working to ensure justice for the 13 women who were illegally fired by Gapâs manufacturer The Wilbes. Haitian law protects pregnant women and union leaders in the case of layoffs. But when its supplier broke the law, Gap has so far chosen to stand on the side of the lawbreakers.
Now itâs the holiday season and Gapâs CEO Richard Dickson is bragging about the âplaybookâ thatâs boosting Gapâs earnings. But from here, that playbook looks a lot like exploiting women & leaving workers unpaid.
Itâs high time that Gap ensure the 13 women are offered their jobs back and paid their lost wages and maternity benefits.

For over 20 years, Partners for Dignity & Rights has worked to strengthen grassroots and worker-led coalitions by providing research, policy development, campaign support and coalition-building to advance policies and models that protect our rights and expand access to public goods. Under the current administration, the very fabric of our work is an affront to those seeking to consolidate power, rule by fiat, and terrorize the poor, immigrants, and workers while rapidly expanding benefits for themselves.
At this pivotal moment for our nation, we ask you to give and support our critical mission to expand access to public goods and services and protect the rights of vulnerable communities. Consider becoming a monthly sustainer, meeting with our leadership team to learn more about our work, and sharing our organization with your network. https://dignityandrights.org/donate/
