Beyond The Birds And The Bees: Surviving S*x-Ed Today S*x education conjures images of teenage giggles and discomfort. But Bronx-based teacher Lena Solow is more than happy to talk about the topic.

"A recent study from Georgetown University shows that starting s*x ed in primary school helps avoid unintended pregnancies, maternal deaths, unsafe abortions and STDs.

Proponents of the Dutch model argue that their approach extends beyond those risks. Their brand of s*x ed reflects a broader emphasis on young people’s rights, responsibility and respect that many public health experts say is the foundation of s*xual health."

The case for starting s*x education in kindergarten In the Netherlands, the approach, known as “comprehensive s*x education,” starts as early as age 4. You'll never hear an explicit reference to s*x in a kindergarten class. The goal is bigger than that. It’s about having open, honest conversations about love and relationships.

Germany Offers Third Gender Option On Birth Certificates A German law takes effect today establishing a third gender option for parents filling out birth certificates for newborns. They can now choose "intermediate" if the child shows both male and female characteristics. The law would postpone the choice until the child is old enough to decide.
