The Family Safety event held on Saturday, November 19 was informative for parents and fun for kids. Parents learned about home safety from the NYPD, FDNY, Bike New York and local pediatrician Dr. Grim, and practiced hands-only CPR. Children learned safety tips and made craft projects. Everyone had a great time. Thanks to the committee and the speakers for a memorable morning.

Members of the Roosevelt Island Parents Network and Roosevelt Island Seniors Association gathered on Saturday, May 7 to make a Mother's Day craft. The children also made bouquets for the mothers, grandmothers and other seniors who were attending the Mother's Day Brunch of the Senior Center the same day right after our event, and handed the flowers out to them personally. It was a touching moment and a wonderful continuation of the dialog between the children and seniors in our community that we started in February with the children creating a ceremonial African Kente cloth for the Senior Center in honor of the Black History Month.
