CPC Adult Literacy Program x NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital π€
We partnered with NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital for a language-accessible workshop on navigating the emergency room, learning about patient rights, interpreter services, mental health support, and more.
Our students learn English to support their kids, navigate city services, find jobs, and become citizens. This workshop checked those boxes and will help improve lives in our immigrant community. π

CPC's Queens AAPI Heritage Month Benefit raised funds for programs that serve 20,000 Queens residents each year, from early childhood education and college readiness to senior care, adult literacy, and legal counseling.
We celebrated AAPI leadership, honored two community champions, and featured lion dances, jazz, Thai dance, and a powerful special needs dance performance.

With SNAP cuts, immigration fears, and rising food prices, families are turning to school food pantries like never before. At PS 94 in Sunset Park, the food pantry run by CPC has seen demand more than double in recent years.
β’ 2022: 40 high-need families served every two weeks
β’ Last year: 210 high-need families served once per month
Sunset Park families need support. School food pantries need resources.

Unlike today's weather, it was sunny last weekend βοΈ β and CPC Community Health Services showed up with 10,000+ participants at the 41st annual AIDS Walk New York in Central Park to raise awareness and funds for health services that expand access and break down stigma. πΆββοΈπΆββοΈ

Older adults make up 20% of the population, yet receive only 1% of the city budget. This week, over 35 older adults from CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center joined LiveOn NYβs Age Strong Campaign to demand greater investment in older adults and aging services.
We are calling for:

Critical repairs and improvements for Older Adult Centers
β
More affordable housing for seniors
β
Expansion of the SCRIE (Senior Citizen Rent Increase Exemption) program
β
Increased funding rates for Congregate Meals programs
