The Committee for Independent Community Action is led by Dr. Lenora Fulani. It works to develop leaders in inner city communities.

CICA has collected over 23K signatures to stop NYC housing authority from pushing out the poor. "Mayor de Blasio is not telling the people of our
city the truth about the privatization of public
housing, about the deals the City struck with real
estate developers to build “unaffordable” hous-
ing on NYCHA grounds, the evictions, displace-
ment, and record homelessness. 8% of NYCHA’s

Saving NYCHA: Conned in Kips Bay: Public housing plan full of lies 04/02/2021

Tenants were being duped by the Mayor's implementation of a federal plan to privatize public housing:

We, call on all New Yorkers to support Resident Management of New York City public housing. With Resident Management, public housing residents can create the quality of life they want for their families and community.

We believe that NYCHA residents should manage their public housing buildings, write their lease agreements, and determine all community building and empowerment programs.

NYCHA is ending public housing by privatizing all of its 173,000 apartments and using RAD (Rental Assistance Demonstration) and The Blueprint for Change to convert them to Section 8. This will leave residents even more powerless to get repairs done, protect against eviction, and stop rent increases. We oppose all forms of privatization of public housing.

Many residents, and non-residents, of public housing support Resident Management. This fight belongs to all of us, whether you are rich or poor, live in public housing or not…this affects us all!
