Established in 1875, The New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NYSPCC) was the first child protection agency in the world. Healing New York is proud to announce a new collaboration with Chef Costas Spiliadis and estiatorio Milos as our 2026 Hospitality Sponsor. A longtime partner, Chef Costas has consistently supported the communities where Milos operates and helped advance our mission of serving children and families across New York City. This partnership is rooted in shared values and a strong commitment to giving back.

Wednesday, April 22nd, we were also proud to bring together an incredible room of New Yorkers who care deeply about the future of child welfare in our city. With special thanks to Council Member Crystal Hudson and Deputy Mayor Helen Arteaga PhD for joining the conversation with Healing New York President & CEO Aysha E. Schomburg and helping to shape a shared vision for supporting children and families.

We are grateful for this continued support and look forward to working together throughout the year, helping children across New York City heal from trauma and abuse, while supporting families so they can build lives grounded in stability, connection, and joy.

Every child deserves a life free from trauma and adversity. At Healing New York, we are constantly reminded that healing is not an individual act. It’s something we nurture together, with families, allies, and communities standing shoulder to shoulder to ensure every child can grow up supported and safe.

This April, during Child Abuse Prevention Month, we joined our partners at the NYC Administration for Children's Services- ACS and fellow service providers at City Hall Park to attend the Pinwheels for Prevention celebration, honoring this critical work and those doing it every day. The pinwheels represent the happy, healthy childhood every child deserves.

The need is urgent, and the impact of this work will ripple through future generations.

The excitement continues!

Yesterday, we PROUDLY cut the ribbon on our beautiful new Family Healing Center:

A supportive, welcoming space where children and parents can heal together after experiencing trauma.

In our new 4,000-sf space, families will be met by Family Support Navigators who can help them access critical resources such as food, housing, and healthcare to renew strength and stability.

We are grateful to all our supporters and partners for joining us at this special moment!

Beginning with children since 1875.

That commitment has guided our work for more than 150 years—shaping how we protect children, support families, and show up for communities across New York. Today, that same commitment calls us forward.

As the needs of children and families grow more complex, our work has deepened beyond protection alone toward healing—healing that happens in relationship, in community, and when people come together.

To reflect this evolution, New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is stepping forward with a new name:

Healing New York

This is not a departure from our legacy. It is its fullest expression—rooted in our history, shaped by this moment, and focused on the future.
