to an unforgettable day at Belmont Park NY! 🐎

The U.S. Army NYC Recruiting Battalion recently had the incredible honor of conducting an Oath of Enlistment for 16 amazing Future Soldiers during the Park's grand "Return to Racing" re-opening event on Long Island!

Joined by the phenomenal West Point - The U.S. Military Academy, we kicked off the day with the opening color guard for the National Anthem. The excitement continued in the Winner’s Circle during the "Salute to Service" race, where we were deeply honored to stand alongside distinguished veterans representing five branches—including local Community Boards, Five Borough Veterans, the National Association of Black Military Women, the American Legion, S:US NYC, and more.

Along with several of our Recruiters, the following Veterans were recognized by the park, representing five branches of service in NYC:

- Curtis Dorval – Five Borough Veterans | U.S. Air Force

- Vonnie Ricks – Five Borough Veterans | U.S. Marines

- Michael Matos – Five Borough Veterans, CEO | U.S. Coast Guard

- Robin Smith – SUS / Community Board 8, Veterans Committee Chairperson | U.S. Air Force

- Dr. Cleopatra Brown – Community Board 16, Veterans Committee Chairperson / Friends for Veterans | U.S. Navy

- Major Tracee Millard, Retired – Fort Hamilton Retiree Council Chairperson / Legal Advisor National Guard | U.S. Army

- Lieutenant Colonel Glennie Millard, Retired – National Association of Black Military Women | U.S. Army

To top it all off, our group enjoyed a VIP track tour and watched the action right from the rail! It was an absolute blast - giving our Future Soldiers and their families a day to truly remember.

🔥 Join the mighty Empire Battalion in congratulating
Sgt. First Class Beo on his recent well deserved promotion from Staff Sgt. to Sgt. First Class!👏

Nine years ago, he arrived from the Philippines searching for a better future. Two months later, he raised his right hand in service.

"I was not raised in a military family. Growing up, I saw the U.S. Army in the news and heard stories about Soldiers serving in ways greater than self. Nearly nine years later, I am proud to say I am part of that team. I am an American Soldier.”

Beo enlisted as a PVT (E-1) out of Fort Meade. Before that, he was a fast-food crew member.

Since then:
He earned his bachelor's degree debt-free using Army Tuition Assistance. He says he went from not being athletic to being strong, disciplined, and confident through Army PT (Physical Fitness Training) and service.

He traveled from South Korea to Germany and built a career as a 92Y Unit Supply Specialist — the behind-the-scenes force that keeps units equipped and mission-ready.

"I came to America searching for a better future. I joined the Army to be part of something greater. Along the way, I found purpose, opportunity, and a team that helped me become more than I ever imagined."

"The Army has given me opportunities to grow as a Soldier, leader, husband, and father, and has given my family the chance to experience the world."

Beo now serves with the U.S. Army NYC Recruiting Battalion at Fort Hamilton, living his passion.

Taking care of Soldiers begins where they live. NCOs are the first line of defense in ensuring barracks are safe, clean, and functional.

The NCO's Barracks Guidebook is a new tool for squad leaders, platoon sergeants and first sergeants that helps them protect Soldiers health, enforce living standards, and resolve issues before they compromise safety or morale.

The guidebook is part of the Army’s broader effort to improve barracks conditions across the force.
