Audrey Flack
(1931–2024)

Very sad - Audrey Flack, our dear friend, artist and sculptor, with whom Mark Khidekel worked on the Baby Yar project in Denver, died yesterday at the age of 93.

Though best known today for her stunning Photorealist paintings, Audrey Flack first came to artistic maturity among the vibrant downtown scene of Abstract Expressionism. Flack was a regular at the 8th Street Club and at the legendary Cedar Tavern, where she was immersed in the cultural and social atmosphere of the period and developed ties with art world luminaries such as Willem de Kooning, Jackson Po***ck, and Franz Kline. Through Abstract Expressionism, Flack found her artistic identity and ultimately created highly original work that was ordered yet gestural and captured the core sensibility of the age.

Wednesday, April 10, 5:00-7:00 PM
Yorkville Library, Meeting Room
222 E. 79th Street (btw 2nd and 3rd Ave)
New York, NY 10075

The text for the artist book Boys Fight was written in 2015 when Marina Tëmkina became concerned with the developments of the war in Ukraine and the coming elections in this country. Michel Gérard made drawings using images from the French dictionary Larousse published in 1942, when he was a child and lived in occupied Paris during the World War II. The experience of looking at the dictionary pages of male sportive games, like box, empowered him and provided hope. Boys Fight is the forth artist book co-authored by these artists.

SYNOPSIS
A long-married couple living in an upscale Tel Aviv highrise becomes obsessed with their new,
charismatic neighbor and his karaoke parties. Stars Sasson Gabay (The Band’s Visit, Shtisel,
Gett), Lior Ashkenazi (Footnote, Golda, Foxtrot) and Rita Shukrun (Orange People).

Meir (Sasson Gabay, The Band's Visit, Shtisel, Gett) and Tova (Rita Shukrun, Orange People)
are a Sephardic, upper-middle-class couple with two grown daughters, seemingly resigned to
their semi-retirement in the banal comforts of an upscale apartment complex in a Tel Aviv
suburb. When Itsik (Lior Ashkenazi, Footnote, Golda, Foxtrot), a charismatic bachelor and
former modeling agent, moves into the building’s penthouse and invites them to one of his
Karaoke parties, their lives are gleefully upended. The couple soon becomes obsessed with the
bachelor, competing for his attention while acting out long-dormant ambitions and desires, as they go on their own humorous but deeply human journeys of self-exploration.
