Ethan Hawke invites you to a special screening of R.M.N.
The Alex Fund is hosting a special screening of Cristian Mungiu's R.M.N., on Wednesday, April 26 at the IFC Center in New York. R.M.N. (which stands for 'Magnetic Resonance Imaging' in Romanian) is an engrossing social thriller set in a Transylvanian village inhabited by Romanians, ethnic Hungarians, and German-speakers.
In the words of one reviewer, Mungiu "treats the topics of immigration, racism, and identity politics without falling into the trap of being judgmental or prescriptive... The single take in the town hall - which goes on for 17 minutes - must be a milestone in film history!"
Please join Ethan and Ryan Hawke, and The Alex Fund's new president, Raluca Gold-Fuchs, before the film for a cocktail and some tasty Korean tapas.
• Wednesday, April 26, 2023
• 6:30 p.m. Screening of R.M.N. and an exclusive pre-recorded interview with Ethan and Cristian about the film
• IFC Center, 323 Sixth Ave (at W 3rd St)

We would like to invite you to the U.S. premiere of the film “Copacul Dorințelor” (“The Wishing Tree”) on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 6:30pm at the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York City. This is Romania's first charity movie, produced to benefit Hospice Casa Speranței, our Romanian hospice partner.
Hospices of Hope is a UK and US (501c3) registered charity, and this year marks 30 years of our work developing hospice and palliative care services for children and adults in Romania and surrounding countries.
In 2018 Hospices of Hope opened a children's respite center called Copăceni near Bucharest, Romania, where "Copacul Dorințelor" was filmed. The center is in a beautiful, converted manor donated by the Florescu family. We support children and families affected by life-limiting conditions such as muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, cancer, and many other rare childhood illnesses through in patient care and family education. The film was partially filmed at Copăceni, and all the actors gave their services completely free of charge.
Please visit the following link to view a trailer of the film, and make sure the CC button is ticked for English subtitles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WaicQE7jfRw . The film is 90 minutes and is subtitled in English.
In the last month amid the crisis in Ukraine, two adjoining buildings at Copăceni have been made available to shelter Ukrainian refugees, particularly mothers and children with special needs. At the present time, 40 beds are occupied, with another 15 beds being made available soon.
The screening is free of charge, but donations are welcome to support Hospices of Hope's work in Romania, at Copăceni, and with Ukrainian refugees.
