🪩 A major win for New York City hospitality, nightlife, and cultural expression!
The New York State Liquor Authority has eliminated the longstanding requirement that liquor license applicants disclose whether patron dancing will be permitted at their establishment.
This long-overdue reform builds on years of advocacy to remove outdated restrictions on social dancing and create a more modern regulatory framework for restaurants, bars, and nightlife venues.
We're proud to have worked alongside industry advocates to help make this change a reality.

💃 Today marks a major milestone for New York nightlife and hospitality.
The New York State Liquor Authority approved a new policy eliminating the longstanding requirement that liquor license applicants disclose whether patron dancing will be permitted at their establishment.
This long-overdue reform builds on years of advocacy to dismantle outdated restrictions tied to the discriminatory legacy of the cabaret laws and unnecessary government oversight of social dancing.
New Yorkers and visitors from around the world gather to celebrate, connect, dance, and experience the energy of our city’s hospitality and nightlife culture. This change helps modernize the regulatory framework and gives businesses greater confidence to create those experiences without unnecessary regulatory uncertainty.
We commend Governor Hochul, SLA Chair Lily Fan, and the Members of the Authority for taking this important step forward.
