Join us Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2025, as both Forts will be open for the Holiday Monday.
Join us from 10am to 5pm as we will have a weekend tour schedule. Castle tours at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Fort Jay tours at 12pm and 2pm. Check the link below for more details and to make reservations.

Next Sunday, 7/20, our regular noon Fort Jay Tour will be replaced with a longer walk as we learn about some of the men of the 16th Infantry. Meet the Ranger at the top of the hill by Soisson’s(the Manhattan) Dock. See you at noon!

Due to a planned New York Harbor closure and planned street closures surrounding the Battery Maritime Building, Governors Island will close early on Friday, July 4, 2025. The Island will be open 7AM-3PM, with the final ferry from Manhattan to Governors Island departing the Battery Maritime Building at 1PM. NYC Ferry will operate the Governors Island Shuttle on a modified holiday schedule, with the final NYC Ferry departing Yankee Pier at 2:49PM. Castle Williams and Fort Jay will close at 1pm. They will reopen July 5th at the normal scheduled time of 10am. We wish everyone a safe and joyous Independence Day!

Join a Park Ranger for walk around Governors Island as we remember the brave men of 16th Infantry. The 16th Infantry called this Island home for almost 20 years. While here, they named manyof the streets and locations in memory of their fallen comrades. Take a walk with us as we remember their names and faces and learn a little of their story. 12 noon, Sunday July 20th, meet at the top of Soisson's landing

This past weekend marked the unofficial start of the summer, here at Governors Island National Monument. It was also the 20th Memorial Day that the rangers have been here to tell the island's story. Both forts are open Wednesday thru Sunday, 10am to 5pm. Check our webpage, www.nps.gov/gois, for schedules and details.

Join us at Federal Hall National Memorial On Wednesday, April 30th, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM, to celebrate George Washington's inauguration as the first President of the United States. Witness a special reenactment of this iconic event that took place in our nation back in 1789.

We will also be hosting the George McAneny Award in collaboration with the New York Preservation Archive Project.
