A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Wonderful Artists and Supporters

We extend our deepest gratitude to our wonderful artists for generously sharing their time, energy, talent, and cultural knowledge at the Richmond Folk Festival 2026 helping bring Tibetan & Himalayan arts and traditions to a large and diverse audience.

With the festival known for attracting an estimated audience of more than 200,000 people, this platform offers an incredible opportunity to share our cultural heritage, strengthen community connections, and raise awareness through the arts.

Over two days, the New York Tibetan Ensemble presented six showcases, including performances, presentations, and talks, each lasting approximately 40–45 minutes. Through every showcase, we share messages of love, peace, harmony, cultural preservation, and awareness of pressing global issues, including climate change.

Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation go to our dedicated artists:
Gen Nyeden La
Gen Soepa La
Gen Chunney
Gen Tashi La
Gen Rinzin La
Gen Namsig La

We are also grateful to Andrew Colwell la, the Center for Traditional Music and Dance (CTMD), NCTA, and the Richmond Folk Festival for their support and commitment to celebrating cultural diversity and keeping traditional arts alive.

This is just one stage and one step in our ongoing journey. Through the New York Tibetan Ensemble, we look forward to bringing more showcases, cultural presentations, and educational programs to audiences in the coming days.

For inquiries, collaborations, or performance opportunities, please reach out to us or search for the New York Tibetan Ensemble online.

We are proud to share a powerful moment of cultural exchange and artistic expression through our partnership with Irish Arts Centers and PS69Q.

Under the guidance of Tibetan Dance Teaching Artist Tashi Thakuri, students at PS69Q embarked on a meaningful residency that culminated in a vibrant performance of S**o Yala a beautiful celebration of the spring season.

This marks a historic milestone: for the first time, Tibetan and Himalayan cultural traditions are being brought to life and made visible within a public school setting. Through movement, music, and storytelling, these young performers honored a rich heritage while embracing the joy and renewal of spring.

We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who made this possible educators, artists, and students for uplifting cultural representation and creating space for diverse voices to shine.
