Behind every moment at the United Nations, there is a dedicated team of staff working tirelessly behind the scenes ๐ŸŒ

As we prepare for , we want to take a moment to thank the Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) for its continuous work supporting the General Assembly and the wider UN system.

From managing the complex logistics of the secret-ballot election for the General Assembly President ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ and conducting the annual seating lottery, to coordinating meetings, conference services, multilingual documentation and interpretation, and other procedural support, the DGACM helps ensure that the work of the United Nations runs smoothly, efficiently, and fairly for all UN Member States ๐Ÿค๐ŸŒ

Can you guess what it is? ๐Ÿ‘‡
Preparations for the 81st Session of the UNGA have begun months before world leaders will arrive in New York for High-Level Week. One of the first formal procedures is the annual drawing of lots to determine which UN Member State will occupy the first seat in the General Assembly Hall. This was announced last Tuesday, with ๐Ÿ‡ฒ๐Ÿ‡ฆ Morocco drawing the coveted first position.

๐Ÿช‘ Morocco will occupy the first seat in the General Assembly Hall for the duration of the session and will serve as the starting point for the alphabetical seating arrangement of all UN Member States.
โš–๏ธ This long-standing tradition, held ahead of each new session of the General Assembly, ensures that no Member State permanently occupies the most prominent seat in the Hall, reflecting the principle of equality among nations.

Stay tuned as we continue to explore preparations and behind-the-scenes moments leading up to the opening of the new session this September.
