Stonewall National Monument has been named one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “11 Most Endangered Historic Places” for 2026 — a powerful reminder that the fight to preserve LGBTQ+ history is far from over.
As our nation approaches its 250th anniversary, the National Trust selected sites that reflect the ongoing struggle for equality and civil rights. Stonewall stands among them not because its story is finished, but because its legacy must continue to be protected, told honestly, and shared with future generations.
This year's list of endangered historic places focuses on equality and erasure
Eleven historically significant sites across the country will receive $25,000 from the National Trust for Historic Preservation to commemorate the country's 250th anniversary.

Thanks, again, to the volunteers who planted the colorful summer annuals in Stonewall National Monument on Saturday. Our longtime supporters at Out Professionals shared this delightful photo album that captures some of the fun we had. (Big thanks to for sharing his fine photos.)

A HUGE shoutout to the incredible volunteers who helped plant the summer gardens in Stonewall National Monument. There is still good in the world, we just need to raise our voices over those who don’t see the light.
