At one time Fire Patrol 2 was stationed across the street from 33 Engine . In 1905 they move to there last fire house down the street on west 3rd between Sullivan and Thompson until later the Patrol was shut down in 2006.
From the Vault:
A couple of young boys watch as the engineer of steamer puts Engine 33 through its paces. This photo was taken in front of the Great Jones Street firehouse in 1901. The company is still serving the city proudly from the same location.

“I have never seen such raw courage, dogged determination, and innovative accomplishments as our brave firefighters and officers displayed on February 26, 1993, as they rescued, evacuated, assisted and calmed the fears of thousands of frightened New Yorkers at the World Trade Center. I am justifiably proud of all of you, and grateful to be associated with you. Once again, you have won the accolade of ‘New York’s Bravest!’” – the late FDNY Fire Commissioner William M. Feehan, in his letter of thanks to FDNY members who responded to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, which was published in WNYF Magazine in March of that year. Today we remember the FDNY members who battled the fire in the large, unstable collapse area of the public parking garage below 2 World Trade Center, as well as those who climbed the tower, searching for and evacuating civilians. Six people were killed that day, and over 1,000 sustained injuries. On September 11, 2001, Commissioner Feehan was killed by the collapse of those same towers that were attacked only 8 years earlier.

Had the honor of working with Jimmy at Fire Patrol 3. True gentleman and a great guy. Will be forever missed
James Raymond Coyle loved all things about being a firefighter, following in the footsteps of both his grandfathers. The last time his mother saw him was the morning of 9/11 when a local TV station was doing a cooking segment in the firehouse. Having finished the night shift, he was having a meal when the call came in. Joining the others, he was part of the "heavy" crew that day.
