This Global Running Day (3 June), PRunners invites you to run with us!
PRunners is a running group bringing together the UN community in New York, founded on Global Running Day 2017 by Permanent Representatives. We meet every Wednesday 6.30 am sharp for a leisurely run through Central Park (standard route is 2.57 miles). For more about our weekly run, see the profile in the NY Times: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/12/world/americas/united-nations-running.html
While we have been physically separated by the COVID-19 pandemic and have not been able to run as a group since mid-March, we have supported each other by sharing posts and pictures from our solo runs (indoors, in the park, in other parts of the city, outside NYC) and built resilience under the motto .
During these challenging times, running in a safe way has been a manner of strengthening resilience, boosting our immune systems and supporting our mental and physical health, in line with the 2030 Agenda, in particular SDG 3 on good health and wellbeing.
While we have been running in various places, Central Park is our natural playground. Running in the city has also been our way to express our connection with and appreciation for the city that we live in.
On 3 June, we are inviting people around the globe to run 2.57miles / 4.14km as expression of our connection across borders and our ability to support each other in these difficult times. Your run can be documented on social media with a picture by using ”
Runners Extend U.N.’s Reach, One Sweaty Huff After Another United Nations representatives dispense with hierarchical diplomacy during runs in Central Park. It’s “a bit like going to the sauna — everyone is equal,” said one from Finland.

Liechtenstein regrets the travel restrictions imposed by the United States against International Criminal Court officials. The remains the world’s most important instrument for prosecuting grave international crimes. We must support the ICC against political attacks, in the name of justice and in defense of the rules-based international order that we have all worked so hard to develop. Please see the statement below by H.E. Aurelia Frick, Foreign Minister of Liechtenstein:
