With profound sorrow, the Uniformed Firefighters Association announces the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Patrick Brady of Ladder 120.
Firefighter Brady, 42, faithfully served the Fire Department of the City of New York for 11 years. On Saturday, November 8th, while operating on the roof at a fire at 9407 Kings Highway in Brooklyn, Firefighter Brady went into cardiac arrest. Despite the immediate and valiant efforts of his fellow Firefighters and EMS members, he was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he tragically passed away.
Appointed on July 14, 2014, Firefighter Brady began his career at Engine 227 in Brooklyn before transferring to Ladder 120 in 2022.
He is the 1,163rd member of the FDNY to make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
The thoughts and prayers of the entire UFA are with his family, friends, and all who served alongside him during this devastating loss. Funeral arrangements will be announced when available.

A working smoke alarm alerted occupants in a Harlem apartment to a fire in their home in the early morning hours of Monday, July 6. They immediately called 911 for help, and sheltered in place in a bedroom until FDNY units arrived on scene. While Ladder 28 forced entry and located the victims in the back bedroom, Engine 69 stretched the hose line and extinguished the fire. Six civilians were injured in the fire, and Fire Marshals determined that the fire was caused by an extension cord. Thanks to the early warning that the working smoke alarm provided, and the actions of all FDNY members on scene, all injuries were non-life-threatening.
FDNY urges New Yorkers to be - ensure that extension cords are used safely, and always have a working smoke alarm and CO alarm, or a combination smoke/CO alarm, on every level of your home, including basements and where you sleep. See more safety tips at fdnysmart.org.

While on probation, The Harlem Hiltons own Dave Guszick of Ladder 28 effected the rescue of a male victim from the back bedroom of an apartment on fire. Though he was a probie, he acted as a Veteran firefighter would: selflessly and without hesitation. Not really a surprise for a man who came to us after serving in our armed forces. Today the city recognized him for his bravery and his efforts and we recognize him and his family for their service. Congratulations Dave! Thank you for your service.
