πŸŽ‚βœ¨ Today, we honor and celebrate what would have been the 94th birthday of Dr. Hazel N. Dukes, a true giant in Harlem and a relentless champion for justice, equity, and our community.

Dr. Dukes was more than a leader, she was a force. For over two decades, she served Manhattan Community Board 10 with distinction, including as Chair of our Health and Human Services Committee, always fighting to uplift the voices and needs of Harlem residents.

Her legacy is woven into the fabric of this community. Her wisdom, her courage, and her unwavering commitment continue to guide us.

Though she is no longer with us physically, we know she is looking down on us, and we remain committed to upholding her memory, her mission, and her love for Harlem in all that we do.

Today, we pause to honor the life, legacy, and enduring impact of Kiki Shepard - a woman whose presence defined an era and whose grace elevated a culture.

As the iconic co-host of Showtime at the Apollo, Kiki Shepard helped bring Harlem’s legendary stage into homes around the world, uplifting generations of artists and showcasing the brilliance of our community. Her elegance, warmth, and authenticity made her not just a host but a symbol of excellence and pride.

Beyond the spotlight, she was a woman of purpose - using her voice to advocate, uplift, and inspire.

Today, we stand in love and solidarity with our Apollo family and all those who were touched by her light. Harlem will forever carry her imprint, and her legacy will continue to shine through every artist who steps onto that historic stage.

Rest in power, Queen.
