✨ PD DAY HAPPY HIGHLIGHTS ✨
QCCN's incredible family child care providers came together on Friday for a powerful Professional Development (PD) Day filled with learning, reflection, and connection!

We were honored to host Angela H. Bayer-Persico, M.Ed., whose dynamic, hands-on session - “When Behavior Speaks: Supporting Children Through Executive Function and Responsive Practice”- helped providers deepen their understanding of children’s behavior and strengthen their everyday practices.

Through real-life scenarios, role play, and practical strategies, participants walked away with tools they can immediately use in their programs.

In addition, providers were introduced to an exciting opportunity to participate in a first-of-its-kind NYC research study, in partnership with WHEDco and United Neighborhood Houses, focused on understanding the true cost of operating a licensed family child care program. This important initiative will help elevate provider voices and inform future policy and funding decisions.

¡Los increíbles cuidadores de la red QCCN se reunieron el viernes para disfrutar de una intensa jornada de formación profesional llena de aprendizaje, reflexión y conexión!

Tuvimos el honor de contar con la presencia de Angela H. Bayer-Persico, M.Ed., cuya dinámica y práctica sesión —«Cuando el comportamiento habla: apoyar a los niños a través de la función ejecutiva y la práctica receptiva»— ayudó a los proveedores a profundizar en su comprensión del comportamiento infantil y a reforzar sus prácticas cotidianas.

A través de situaciones de la vida real, juegos de rol y estrategias prácticas, los participantes se llevaron herramientas que pueden utilizar de inmediato en sus programas.

Además, se presentó a los proveedores una emocionante oportunidad de participar en un estudio de investigación pionero en la ciudad de Nueva York, en colaboración con WHEDco y United Neighborhood Houses, centrado en comprender el verdadero coste de gestionar un programa de cuidado infantil familiar con licencia. Esta importante iniciativa ayudará a dar voz a los proveedores y a informar las futuras decisiones sobre políticas y financiación.

🦋🌱 CARING FOR BUTTERFLIES WITH GENTLE HANDS 🌱🦋
At Bella’s Infant and Toddler Care in Woodside, provider Shanelle Pierre guided the children through a beautiful hands-on learning experience centered around and .

The children observed caterpillars and butterflies up close, carefully feeding them grapes and placing them near their grass plants to create a safe and nurturing environment. Since the butterflies in the program have injured wings and cannot fly away, were able to interact with them gently while learning about kindness, care, and the butterfly life cycle. 🐛💚

As part of the activity, the children also prepared to decorate little butterfly houses for their grass plants, turning the lesson into a creative and meaningful nature experience.

Through observation, sensory exploration, and hands-on care, the children strengthened their curiosity and connection with the natural world. ✨🦋

🦋🌱 CUIDAR DE LAS MARIPOSAS CON MANOS DELICADAS 🌱🦋 En Bella’s Infant and Toddler Care en Woodside, la proveedora Shanelle Pierre guió a los niños en una hermosa experiencia práctica de aprendizaje centrada en las mariposas y la naturaleza.

Los niños observaron orugas y mariposas de cerca, alimentándolas cuidadosamente con uvas y colocándolas junto a sus plantas de césped para crear un ambiente seguro y lleno de cuidado. Como las mariposas del programa tienen alas lastimadas y no pueden volar, los niños pudieron interactuar con ellas suavemente mientras aprendían sobre la amabilidad, el cuidado y el ciclo de vida de las mariposas. 🐛💚

Como parte de la actividad, los niños también comenzaron a decorar pequeñas casitas para mariposas para colocar en sus plantas, convirtiendo la lección en una experiencia creativa y significativa sobre la naturaleza.

Hosted by Queens Community House-Childcare Network in partnership with the NYC Child Care Resource & Referral Consortium, the event fostered meaningful networking among organizations committed to supporting and .

By bringing providers, service agencies, and families together in one space, we helped strengthen community partnerships and increase awareness of the many resources available throughout .

🐝🌸 Exploring the Busy World of Bees 🌸🐝
At LITTLE GENIUS CENTER INC in Flushing, provider Ho Sub Kim guided the children through a sweet and interactive lesson about bees and pollination.

The children learned how bees travel from flower to flower collecting nectar and helping flowers grow through pollination. To bring the lesson to life, they participated in a fun fine motor activity where they pretended to be little bees gathering nectar from flowers using their own “bee” tools. 🐝✨

Through storytelling, hands-on play, and creative exploration, the children strengthened their fine motor skills, practiced coordination, and discovered the important role bees play in nature. 🌼💛

🐝🌸 Explorando el Mundo de las Abejas 🌸🐝
En LITTLE GENIUS CENTER INC en Flushing, el proveedor Ho Sub Kim guió a los niños en una dulce e interactiva lección sobre las abejas y la polinización.

Los niños aprendieron cómo las abejas viajan de flor en flor recolectando néctar y ayudando al crecimiento de las flores a través de la polinización. Para dar vida a la lección, participaron en una divertida actividad de motricidad fina donde fingieron ser pequeñas abejas recolectando néctar de las flores usando sus propias “abejitas”. 🐝✨

🌿🍋 LEARNING FROM THE GARDEN 🍋🌿
At Lucy’s Rainbow Daycare in Richmond Hill, provider Lucitania “Lucy” Noboa is helping children explore this month’s gardening theme in a fun and hands-on way.

As part of their lesson on herb plants, the children spent time observing, touching, and smelling fresh mint leaves from the garden.

They then used the mint to make lemonade together, connecting what they learned about plants to something they could taste and enjoy.

This sweet activity gave children the chance to explore nature through their senses, practice teamwork, and learn how plants can be part of the foods and drinks we enjoy every day. 🌱💛

🌿🍋 APRENDIENDO DEL JARDÍN 🍋🌿
En Lucy’s Rainbow Daycare en Richmond Hill, la proveedora Lucitania “Lucy” Noboa está ayudando a los niños a explorar el tema de jardinería de este mes de una manera divertida y práctica.

Como parte de su lección sobre plantas de hierbas, los niños observaron, tocaron y olieron hojas frescas de menta del jardín.

Luego usaron la menta para preparar limonada juntos, conectando lo que aprendieron sobre las plantas con algo que pudieron probar y disfrutar.
