Forever chemicals were found in all 13 Long Island rivers and creeks tested in a national report released today. These waterways are fed by the same groundwater we live on, and PFAS are linked to cancer, liver damage and immune harm.

Every part of this problem runs through elected officials. Lawmakers in Albany passed a bill lowering New York’s PFAS limit from 10 parts per trillion to 4, and it’s waiting on the governor’s signature. In Washington, the Trump administration and Lee Zeldin’s EPA are rolling back federal protections. Locally, county and town officials decide how hard we push on cleanup and testing.

The people we elect decide what’s in our water. This November, every seat on your ballot is a vote on clean water.
