Central New York’s 40 Under 40 Award celebrates young professionals whose exceptional leadership meaningfully impacts their communities.

On October 6th, our Hilary Warner, Justice Coordinator for the 5th Judicial District, was recognized with all 40 honorees during a ceremony in Syracuse, N.Y.

Hilary’s dedication makes a real difference: From collaborating with Mothers and Children in Crisis (MCC) to establishing a clothing closet in Onondaga County and partnering with the Literacy Coalition of Central New York to distribute Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library books in Family Court.

Hilary does important work for the Central New York Community, and we share in celebrating her well-earned recognition.

Community Justice Centers are a partnership between our court system and the Center for Justice Innovation that provide community based resources for court involved individuals.

September 30 is “Every Child Matters Orange Shirt Day,” an annual day of recognition commemorating the indigenous children taken from their families to attend residential boarding schools whose purpose was, in part, to extinguish Native American culture.

The children were discouraged, and even barred, from retaining cultural heritage, speaking their ancestral language, wearing traditional clothing or maintaining ancient traditions.

Earlier this month, we were honored to welcome interpretation and translation, law, and international relations students from Argentina’s Universidad Argentina de la Empresa to our courts to learn firsthand about the vital role court interpreters play in delivering justice.

Hosted by Zenith T. Taylor’s Office of Statewide Civic Engagement and Ann Ryan’s Language Access & Court Interpreters office, the visit provided a unique opportunity to highlight the essential work of our UCS Court Interpreters and honor their contributions as we celebrate Deaf Awareness Month and UCS Court Interpreter Appreciation Month.
