Ahead of Saturday’s NYC-DSA convention, we’re presenting our strategic reflections on the chapter and the conjuncture. We need to redouble our efforts at basebuilding and organizer training in order to become an organization of organizers and root ourselves more thoroughly in the multiracial working class.

In particular, we want to argue against framing any kind of opposition between external-facing campaigns and the hard work of basebuilding. Building constituencies for socialism isn’t a distraction from our campaigns, it’s the key to their success.

We also want to encourage our comrades in the chapter to think dynamically and creatively about how we make DSA the political home for our members, replenish our leadership cadre, and enable the training of our members into leaders, socialists and effective organizers. The NYC-DSA Convention is coming up this weekend and we’re looking forward to discussing key political questions! Emerge encourages delegates to support the following proposals.

So this Saturday we're holding a rally to support our community and Associated Supermarket. We're asking our neighbors and local electeds to come out and show support. Black communities deserve and demand access to healthy food.
