On Wednesday April 29, 2026 Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹 signed an agreement establishing diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan 🇰🇬. This important step lays the foundation for a constructive and foward-looking partnership.

On Wednesday April 29, 2026, I was pleased to sign, on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹, the agreement establishing diplomatic relations with Kyrgyzstan🇰🇬. Kyrgyzstan, a land of striking mountainous landscapes and rich nomadic heritage, sits at the heart of Central Asia and plays an important role in regional connectivity and cultural exchange. This important step lays the foundation for a constructive and forward-looking partnership, grounded in mutual respect and shared aspirations. We look forward to advancing cooperation in areas such as trade, sustainable development, and multilateral engagement. They have also offered themselves as a candidate for a non-permanent seat in the UN Security Council 2027-28. We wish them the best wishes on the campaign trail.

Today, I had the distinct honour of signing, on behalf of Trinidad and Tobago🇹🇹, the agreement establishing diplomatic relations with Eritrea🇪🇷. Eritrea, strategically located along the Red Sea, is a nation rich in history, resilience, and cultural heritage. As a gateway between Africa and the Middle East, it holds significant geopolitical and economic importance. This milestone marks the beginning of a new chapter of cooperation, mutual respect, and shared opportunity between our two countries. We look forward to deepening engagement across areas of common interest, including trade, development, and multilateral collaboration.

Ambassador Dr. Neil Parsan met formally with Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates, on 05 February 2026. Their discussion focused on key areas of mutual interest, including security and development. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued collaboration and cooperation aimed at strengthening the international system and advancing shared priorities.

Ambassador Dr. Neil Parsan met formally with UNGA President H.E. Annalena Baerbock on 23rd January, 2026 for a productive exchange on Trinidad and Tobago's UNSC bid, AI governance, the SG selection process, and the UN80 initiative, among other areas.

Trinidad and Tobago’s delegation to the 80th United Nations General Assembly have taken their seats in the UN General Assembly Hall for the opening of the UNGA General Debate.

The delegation is being led by the Honourable Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs alongside Trinidad and Tobago's delegation of Minister Sobers, Mr. Nicholas Morris, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign & CARICOM Affairs and the Office of the Prime Minister; Senator the Honourable Dominic Smith, Minister of Public Administration & Artificial Intelligence; Mr. Randall Karim, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign & CARICOM Affairs; His Excellency Dr. Neil Parsan, Trinidad and Tobago's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations and His Excellency Ralph Maraj, Ambassador to CARICOM.
