Hernandez for NY Running for New York State Comptroller to stop Albany’s tax-and-spend policies, fight fraud and abuse, and invest in New York’s future

Sheridan Gorman was 18. She was walking with friends when she was shot and killed. The man who murdered her was in our country illegally.

She should be alive today.

But corrupt politicians like Kathy Hochul support policies that protect illegal aliens instead of our fellow Americans. She has spent billions of YOUR hard-earned dollars on them, and Tom DiNapoli signed off every step of the way.

I'm an immigrant. My family did it the right way, and we're proud of it. Violent criminals who are here illegally don't belong in our communities.

Enforce the law.

Instead of loosening the property tax cap and asking New Yorkers to pay more, how about making the pension fund perform better?

Tom DiNapoli relies heavily on Wall Street managers while taxpayers are being asked to shoulder rising pension costs. As Comptroller, I’ll build out a world-class in-house investment team, cut our reliance on expensive outside managers and fight for stronger net returns so more money stays in the pension fund.

Better performance means less pressure on taxpayers. We shouldn’t be talking about breaking the tax cap. We should be talking about lowering taxes and pension costs by making the fund perform better.

Staying within the cap means potentially cutting staff for parks, beaches and golf courses, officials said.

Thank you to Chairman Doug Colety and the Westchester GOP for the incredible support in Westchester.

Everywhere we go, New Yorkers are fed up with waste, weak oversight, and the same Albany status quo. They’re ready for a Comptroller who will actually fight for their money.

New York has built the future before.

The Erie Canal, financed by our state when skeptics called it a folly, made us the Empire State.

Then came the companies that changed the world: Pfizer in Brooklyn. Kodak and Xerox in Rochester. General Electric in Schenectady. Air conditioning in Buffalo. IBM in Endicott. Corning in the Southern Tier. Regeneron in Tarrytown.

These companies created generations of good jobs, built our communities and paid for our schools and services.

But too often, we've invented the future and let others profit from it.

A Kodak engineer invented the digital camera, and the business was built elsewhere.

Today New York startups are growing fast, yet nearly two-thirds of America's venture capital still goes to other states.

The Empire Opportunity Fund will change that.

By co-investing $10 billion of our pension fund alongside proven private capital, we'll back the next IBM, the next Pfizer, the next Corning, right here at home, upstate and down.

Disciplined investing, real returns for our pensioners, and jobs and a tax base for our kids.

We built the Empire State once. Let's build it again.

Thomas P. DiNapoli is paying Wall Street billions while New York’s pension fund trails the stock market.

Bring more investing in-house, cut the fees, and keep that money in the fund where it can grow for retirees instead of padding Wall Street’s pockets.

Over the last 12 months, venture capital invested nearly $800 billion worldwide, supporting an estimated 3 to 4.5 million jobs.

That money is building the future in three sectors:

- Artificial intelligence: ~$490B this year, 64–80% of every venture dollar
- Advanced hardware & robotics: $47.4B in the first half, nearly 4x the prior six months
- Healthcare & biotech: $21.3B in the first half, with biotech IPOs already beating every full year since 2021

New York needs to be in this game, for three reasons:

1. Our pensioners deserve the best returns. U.S. venture capital posted a 17.1% one-year return, the highest of any private capital strategy. Our pension fund should be capturing that growth, with a focus on real cash returns for retirees.

2. These are the jobs of the future. With private partners matching our investment, the $10 billion Empire Opportunity Fund can create tens of thousands of high-tech jobs and more than 100,000 New York jobs in total.

3. Our kids shouldn't have to leave to build a career. Every company that grows here instead of somewhere else adds to the tax base that pays for our schools, roads and services.

The question isn't whether this money gets invested. It's whether it gets invested in New York.

Let's invest in New York's future and make sure it pays.

Proud to stand with the firefighters of Moyers Corners Fire Department in Clay.

These volunteers answer the call day and night, giving their time and putting themselves on the line to protect their neighbors.

New York is stronger because of people who step up to serve their communities. Our first responders deserve our respect, our gratitude, and our unwavering support.

The old Crucible facility, now Lauter Metal Technologies, is part of New York’s proud manufacturing legacy, and we need more companies building and growing right here at home.

Through my Empire Opportunity Fund, we can invest in New York businesses, create local jobs, grow our tax base, and deliver strong returns for our pensioners.

It’s time to invest in New York again.

Tom DiNapoli has been Comptroller for 19 years, and New York is still sitting on nearly $21 BILLION that belongs to New Yorkers.

I have a different idea: give people their money back.

My “It’s Your Money” Tax Cut will overhaul this broken system and get Albany out of the business of holding onto your money.

The New York Post covered my plan. Read the full story here: https://nypost.com/2026/10/01/us-news/nys-is-holding-21b-that-belongs-to-you-now-one-candidate-wants-to-make-it-easier-to-claim-it/
