Congratulations to BCJI Corning’s Restore Program! Corning City Council recently voted to continue funding the juvenile diversion program through a US Department of Education grant received by the Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians.
The Restore program was created during the Corning grant’s “implementation” phase as an alternative to the traditional justice procedure, diverting youth before adjudication using a mentoring model. The grant funds allow for the continuation of the program through June 2018. Kudos to the Corning site for leveraging funding to create cross-disciplinary, lasting solutions.

Providence Police Department Captain Dean Isabella and Jose Rodriguez of the Institute for the Study and Practice of Nonviolence, who both grew up in the western edge of Providence, discuss finding common ground in "Speaking Across Difference."
