The weather may not have cooperated fully, but that couldn't dampen the joy of Soldiers and Families of the 2nd Battalion, 60th Infantry Regiment as they reunited after 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training.

Hardcore family; today is officially “Family Day”!! During Family Day, our Soldiers will have the opportunity to walk around Post and explore all it has to offer. On Fort Jackson, we have a Starbucks, a Burger King, and a Charleys Philly Steaks just to name a few (all of which they are able to eat at for the first time since arriving). Soldiers are not allowed to walk and talk on their phones at the same time (not just here at Fort Jackson, that is an Army-wide policy).
Prior to picking up your Soldier families will be given a brief by the Battalion Commander and Battalion Command Sergeant Major. In this brief you will be told what you can and cannot do with your Soldier while on Fort Jackson, as well as, where you can and cannot go. You will also be briefed the time that the Soldiers need to be back for final formation.
Today’s Recondo Report is titled, “Hurry-up and wait”. If you have not heard your Soldier use the phrase, we are confident you will soon. Before moving on to AIT we wanted to make sure you had perspective regarding schedules and military life. Change is a constant in military life. So, whether it is the return date from a deployment or when your Soldier will receive orders, be prepared for schedules to change and remember Operational Security (never post dates of movement or numbers of Soldiers involved online.)

Good morning Hardcore Family, today groups of our Soldiers from each company had a chance to sit down with some veterans from the 4th Battalion, 39th Infantry Regiment. Thank you to Ed Hogue and his team for inspiring the next generation of Soldiers.

Hardcore family! As graduation quickly approaches, thank you for your feedback and for joining us on the journey from civilian to Soldier. There are over 60 different locations that Soldiers may ship to for the Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Every unit has a different commander and its own command climate that will determine the frequency of communication on social media. So, do not be surprised if information is not provided daily. Know that “no news is good news.” Many AIT units allow Soldiers more access to their phones; so, it is possible you may have more contact with your Soldier. Just like your Soldier we know you are ready for this next phase of Army Life.
