It is with deep sadness that we say John Cortese, the beloved owner of the Golden Gate, passed away yesterday at the age of 95. John was a true legend and hero, serving customers from around Brooklyn as well as serving our nation during WWII. He will be dearly missed by his customers, friends and family. May he Rest in Peace.
As we are living in unprecedented times, a service will most likely take place later on this year. We will provide updates accordingly.
If you were a customer of John and would like to mention something in the interim, please feel free to message us directly. All messages will be sent to the immediate family.
