It is with profound sadness that Newalla Fire Department extends our deepest condolences following the tragic loss of a Wellston firefighter who lost their life yesterday while courageously battling a large fire.

Our hearts are with the fallen firefighter’s family, friends, and fellow members of the Wellston Fire Department. We also keep in our thoughts and prayers every agency that responded and assisted, along with all those affected by this heartbreaking loss.

The fire service is a family, and when one of us is lost, we all feel that loss. We stand beside the Wellston Fire Department during this incredibly difficult time.

At this time, the Newalla Fire Department is not selling shirts, apparel, or merchandise of any kind to the public. Any items being sold are not authorized or affiliated with our department.

🇺🇸🎆 Happy Independence Day from Newalla Fire Department! 🎆🇺🇸

As we celebrate the Fourth of July with family, friends, and fireworks, we encourage everyone to make safety a top priority.

🚒 Fireworks Safety Tips:
• Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby.
• Never allow young children to handle fireworks.
• Light one firework at a time and move away quickly.
• Never relight a firework that doesn’t ignite.
• Dispose of used fireworks by soaking them in water before throwing them away.
• Be mindful of dry grass and windy conditions that can quickly spread a fire.

If you choose to celebrate with fireworks, please do so responsibly and follow all local laws and safety guidelines.

Should an emergency arise, don’t hesitate to call 911. Our firefighters will be on duty throughout the holiday, ready to serve and protect our community.

We want to thank Desiree, Girl Scout Troop 425 and Service Unit 638 for the donation of water. We can not express how thankful we are for it! It keeps our firefighters hydrated in a time of need!
