VETERANS & SURVIVING SPOUSES: WINTER ENERGY ASSISTANCE MAY BE AVAILABLE
The Village of Newark Valley is sharing an important resource for area veterans and surviving spouses as we approach Veterans Day and the upcoming heating season. Through NYSEG’s Energy Assistance Program (EAP), customers who receive certain Veterans Disability or Survivors Pension benefits may qualify for assistance with their winter energy costs. Importantly, participation in an eligible veterans benefit program may qualify you for EAP assistance without an income eligibility requirement. NYSEG reports that more than 62,000 veterans receive benefits within the 42 counties it serves in whole or in part, yet fewer than 500 customers are currently enrolled through this veteran's eligibility pathway.
If you are a veteran receiving qualifying benefits, or a surviving spouse receiving Survivors Pension benefits, you may be eligible for assistance that you aren't currently receiving.

We encourage our veterans, their families, and local veterans organizations to share this information. Receiving this information more than once is better than missing out on a benefit for which you may qualify.

In observance of Columbus Day/Indigenous People's Day (Monday October 12th) the Village office will be closed and garbage pick-up will be Tuesday October 13th . Recycling will be picked-up on Friday, as usual. Thank you for your patience.

The Village Office will be closed Monday, September 14th- Thursday, September 17th for the staff's annual fall training. Water and garbage payments can still be mailed in, paid online, or dropped off in our drop box by the office door. Thank you for your cooperation and patience.

Hello all,

As we have tried to reach out to residents in a timely manner for a variety of reasons lately, we have found quite a few phone numbers and email addresses are outdated or incorrect. Please update them with us via email at [email protected], by phone at 607-642-8686, by mail, or stop in. We most recently had this issue while trying to contact residents about upcoming paving on Smullen Ave. and Cook St. We were just notified by our vendor that all of Smullen Ave. and Cook St. will be milled Thursday 8/27, beginning first thing in the morning and will be paved Friday 8/28. The roads will not be closed, but delays are expected. Thank you for your help and understanding.
