With November approaching, we are getting closer to election season, not just mid-terms, but also the coming election of our Arc Sparks Self-Advocacy Group Co-Chairs. ✅🗳

We were so grateful to Brian Manktelow NY State Assembly 130th district for joining our Arc Sparks meeting yesterday. For roughly an hour, we were able to ask him questions on his background, how he got into politics, the election process, campaign advice, and most importantly, why every voice matters. 🗣

We are proud to see Arc Sparks be proactive in learning more about the political process and recognizing that THEIR voice matters!

GOOD NEWS ADVOCATES - New York's investments in services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID...

GOOD NEWS ADVOCATES - New York's investments in services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) are working. State investments raised pay for essential direct care positions, and vacancies are down 45%. This is absolutely fantastic and we are incredibly grateful for this investment.

However, the job isn't done.

Nearly 1 in 3 direct care staff still leave every year, and without sustained investment, that progress will be lost.

With that in mind, we, along with all chapters of The Arc NY, are calling on Governor Hochul to include the following priorities to support people with IDD in her FY 2027–28 Executive Budget:
· A 3.4% Targeted Inflationary Increase (TII) to keep funding in step with the rising cost of providing services
· A Human Services Careforce Worker Wage Investment to give direct care staff and other human services workers a lasting, recurring raise
· Restoration of the Healthcare Enhancement Program to help providers and staff afford rising health insurance costs

🍬 CANDY & SNACK DONATIONS NEEDED 🍬
Wednesday, October 28th from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, RCC will be hosting their "Drive Thru" Trick or Treat Event for RCC Families only (both past & present) in the Roosevelt Children's Center parking lot.

In order to make the event even more memorable, RCC is asking for donations of both candy and snacks - which you are able to drop off at the front office. All donations need to be given by next Wednesday, October 21st.
