The Essex County Prosecutor's Office wants to remind you about the “Blue Envelope Program”, an initiative designed to promote safer, clearer interactions between law enforcement officers and individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and similar conditions.
The “Blue Envelope Program" provides drivers with a safe, resealable place to keep their driver's license, and other important documents. It also includes clear instructions for drivers on navigating traffic stops and communicating with law enforcement officers.
For law enforcement officers, the program serves as a reminder of the training they have received for interacting with individuals with ASD and similar conditions.
Essex County residents can obtain a “Blue Envelope” at their local police department free of charge.
