FYI:

NCC has just announced new steps they are taking to improve their property assessment process following a recent independent quality control review.

This review identified areas of improvement - including issues with property data and valuation models, especially for certain types of commercial properties - and the county has outlined steps they plan to take to address those findings and ensure that the next reassessment process runs much more smoothly and efficiently.

The Public Service Commission will hold two public comment sessions regarding the Delmarva Power Application to Increase Base Rates, Docket No. 25-1555. One is on October 20th in Lewes and the other is on October 21st in Wilmington.

Delawareans have the right to participate in the utility regulatory process. These sessions are an opportunity for you to exercise that right, and share how the proposed rate changes could affect you and your community.

I encourage you to share this information with your circles because this affects all of us.

You may submit public comment online or via email through November 4, 2026. Public comments shared via public comment sessions, or online, are entered into the official record of the rate case being heard before the Commission.

Delaware is growing! In the last five years, Delaware has experienced one of the largest population shifts in the country, with a 6.86% increase. And Delaware lawmakers have been working hard to ensure that as our state continues to expand, so do the resources available to residents.

SB 27, sponsored by Rep Josué O. Ortega and Senator Darius Brown, establishes the Office of New Americans in Delaware. This legislation acknowledges our state’s changing demographic and reaffirms our commitment to inclusion, economic growth, and opportunity for all.

In Delaware, we recognize the humanity of all immigrants who chose to move here, and we believe that adequate resources and support can lead to a real boost in economic development, social mobility, and comfortable integration as more people choose to call Delaware home.

It's Hispanic Heritage Month! This month, we're celebrating those whose lineage came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. Their contributions have not only made our country and our state more vibrant and colorful, but they've made it better and more inclusive too.

In my first term in office, I've built a record based on strong legislation, real investments, and tangible impact for the 3rd District.

I’m proud to say that I’ve successfully secured over $1 million in state-funded investments for various community projects in parks across our city including Connell Street Park, Jennie M. Weaver Park, Woodlawn Park, and Rodney St. Reservoir.

My work in the legislature has remained focused on our community’s needs by addressing motorized scooters, funeral establishment permits, folic acid fortification, and more diverse languages available on state government websites, among others, with several of these measures having already been signed into law.

Through all this, I have never strayed from what matters most: our community. For residents across our city, this is the real, measurable impact that we’ve been waiting for, and I’m proud to have delivered for my city.

On August 26th, 1920, the 19th Amendment, giving women the right to vote, officially became a part of the United States Constitution.

On Women’s Equality, we acknowledge all the work it took for women to achieve the freedom and rights they have today, and we look forward to the work needed to ensure gender equality.
