Today, officers with the Newbern Police Department had the pleasure of joining staff and students at Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Northwest in Newbern for their Health and Resource Fair.

The event provided a great opportunity for our officers to connect with students, staff, and community members while promoting safety, wellness, and the resources available throughout our community.

Chief Greg Barr stated, “Community policing is about more than enforcing laws. It’s about building relationships, earning trust, and being actively involved in the community we serve.”

We appreciate TCAT Northwest for inviting us to participate and for their continued commitment to our community!

NEWBERN, TN. — As a result of the ongoing investigation into the shooting incident that occurred in the 1100 block of Patty Drive, investigators with the Newbern Police Department have charged a 16-year-old male juvenile in connection with the incident.

Following consultation with District Attorney General Danny Goodman, the juvenile has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Unlawful Possession of a Fi***rm. The juvenile also has additional charges pending with the Dyersburg Police Department.
The juvenile was transported to the McDowell Center pending an appearance in Dyer County Juvenile Court.

The Newbern Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, Dyersburg Police Department, and Dyer County Juvenile Office.

“This investigation demonstrates the importance of cooperation among our local law enforcement agencies. I want to thank the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office, Dyersburg Police Department, and Dyer County Juvenile Office for their assistance and continued partnership.
