🚨🚨An important reminder to join us at the Amesbury Public Schools’ Family Forum this Thursday with facilitator Dr. Jessica Pepple, educator and CEO/Founder of Reframe Institute!

📆Thursday, Oct 1
⏰6:30 PM
📍Cashman Elementary School Cafeteria

This is an important step as a part of Amesbury Racial & Social Justice’s anti-racism advocacy in our community. The forum aims to address the constant racist harassment multiple elementary school students have been facing regularly for years, and is a redo of a very poorly managed family forum last spring that only discussed bullying. We want to show up and show support for our community members and their children.

It is open to ALL members of the community and students are welcome to attend with their families.

Let’s show up!!!

NOTE: We apologize for the blurry flyer - we did not make it. Here is a description of it:

The flyer is primarily blue and white, and has the Amesbury Public Schools logo on the top left corner. Below that, it says “Empowering Our Community Family Forum”. Under that, it says “Together, let’s discuss, share ideas, and plan steps to
recognize, address and prevent dehumanizing language.” It indicates that Dr. Jessica Pepple, educator and CEO/Founder of Reframe Institute, is the presenter. Below that, there is a QR Code and next to that, it says “Scan the QR code to attend”. Next to the description of the presenter, there is a blue circle that has the words “Recognizing, Addressing, Preventing” in it. Across the bottom of the flyer, it has a graphic of a clock over a calendar and says “October 1, 2026, 6:30 PM” and on the right bottom corner across from the date and time says “Cashman Elementary School Cafeteria”.

This is a video of Mariah and one of our members sitting opposite each other in a grassy area in front of a mural that is in different shades of blue. It says Amesbury and depicts different scenes of working in a historical textile mill.

🚨🚨Urgent mutual aid ask!

One of our neighbours has been kidnapped by ICE and deported, forcibly separated his wife and two daughters. He was the primary breadwinner and the household is now struggling to pay their rent. They had been homeless before, living in their car, and then in a shelter. With the loss of his income, the three of them are yet again facing the threat of homelessness. It is time for Amesbury to step up for this family. It may be hard to stop the federal agents from carrying out their kidnapping, but taking care of a family in our town to decrease the impacts of the husband/father’s deportation is how we can all reduce the harm.

We are looking for assistance in the following ways:

💵Raising money to pay her arrears ($4000) and the portion of her rent she cannot pay moving forward ($1800).

💼Helping the mom find a job in amesbury to supplement the income from her other parttime retail job and enables the household to pay rent moving forward.

🏡An apartment that is more affordable- her current assistance will be dramatically decreasing in the fall and her rent will become $2500 (and her current apartment should not be that price for what it is). We are looking for an apartment- ideally 2 bedroom- that is more affordable.

👧🏽Childcare support for an elementary aged daughter that enables the mom to work more and pay rent moving forward

Please send donations to clare killian on venmo and any leads on jobs, childcare, or apartments via DM.
