Tomorrow is a great day for History in Young County. Go to Talkin’ Tombstones and then come visit with some incredible Living Historians at Fort Belknap.

Talkin' Tombstones is this Saturday, October 24th in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Graham. Meet me on the east side of the cemetery, look for this sign which is the east entrance. Our times will be at 9:30 am and 10:45 am. We started with our first Talkin' Tombstones in 2017 by partnering with Graham Regional Theater. I was in Oak Grove Cemetery this morning and each time I walk through there, I see stories of people. There are stories of courage, faith and sadness. Who said the mysteries are only on television? Hope to see you there!

Want to see, hear and smell the 1850s? Fort Belknap’s living history event is held the fourth weekend of October near Newcastle, Texas.
Director Jim Hammond describes it on Wise About Texas Episode 156: soldiers and families dressed as if it were 1850, chuckwagon cooks, cannon fire, a trumpet sounding roll call, and a Friday education day for school groups. By the time the kids leave, Hammond says, they’re talking to their teachers like they were born in 1850.
Check with Fort Belknap for this year’s schedule, and listen to Episode 156 before you go.
