The 2025 Stats at a Glance
• 90% Surge in Attacks: According to FICO's Card Alert Service data, the U.S. saw a staggering 90% year-over-year increase in the number of individual card compromise events compared to 2024.
• Compromised Cards on the Rise: Over 243,000 debit cards were identified as compromised by FICO in 2025 (a 5% increase from 2024), impacting more than 3,500 financial institutions.
• The Rise of Shimming: While traditional skimmers still make up the majority of devices, ultra-thin shimmers now account for roughly 15% of all physical card-reading interceptors found in the wild.
• Debit Cards are the Prime Target: An overwhelming 97% of skimming incidents target debit cards rather than credit cards, primarily because thieves want to capture PINs to withdraw cash directly from ATMs.

North and South Court Square will shut down Saturday morning at approximately 5:00 AM for Market Day. Please do not leave your vehicle parked overnight on Friday in this area. The streets will reopen at around 3:00 PM on Saturday afternoon.

Beginning Monday, June 1, 2026, Cougar Way will be temporarily closed to thru-traffic for street resurfacing efforts and the LINC-13 Shared Use Path project. Today 9 members of CID got together and did a joint Rower Marathon. This consists of 42,195 meters rowed in less than 4 hours. The team accomplished it in 3:06:34
