πŸ“£ Attention Coweta County Property Owners! πŸ“£

Starting today, June 19, 2026, the annual Notice of Assessment will be mailed to all property owners in Coweta County. This document provides notice of the value placed on your property and is not a tax bill. Property tax bills will be mailed in October.

Following the passage of Senate Bill 566 (SB 566), the Notice of Assessments are more simplified and only speak to the value of one’s property. The following changes are incorporated:

πŸ“ The Notice only includes a property owner’s 2025 Value and 2026 Value. This is based on 100% Fair Market value. The 2026 Other Value reflects the fair market value of any preferential assessment for properties or any portion of properties meeting certain requirements.

πŸ’° There is now an Estimated Tax Savings that includes any current tax savings, including any exemptions, credits or preferential assessments. You will have 45 days to call the Assessors Office to file an appeal if something is missing or to apply for and/or check for exemption eligibility.

🏑 There is a large box at the top titled Rights to Appeal and Apply for Homestead Exemption that includes your rights to appeal the property values provided in this Notice. The deadline to file an appeal and/or apply for a homestead exemption is Monday, August 3, 2026.

If you disagree with the Current Year Fair Market Value on the Notice of Assessment, you can file an appeal online or in-person. The deadline for filing an appeal is Monday, August 3. To learn more about the appeal process, visit: https://www.coweta.ga.us/461/Appeals.

As a reminder, this is NOT a tax bill, but a value assessment of property in Coweta County.

For any questions, please contact or visit the Assessors Office:
πŸ“ 37 Perry Street, Newnan, GA 30263

Today is Juneteenth, a federal holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

Do you know the story behind it? πŸ€”

On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation, declaring that all individuals held as slaves in Confederate states shall be set free.

Despite this proclamation, slavery continued in Texas. It wasn't until June 19, 1865, that freedom reached Galveston, Texas, when federal troops arrived to ensure that enslaved people were finally set free.

That day became known as Juneteenth, a blending of "June" and "Nineteenth." It's also referred to as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day.

Today, we honor the significance of June 19, 1865, reflect on our nation's history and celebrate freedom.

Last week, our Corrections Division hosted a graduation ceremony for offenders at the Prison, celebrating a major milestone in their journey toward rehabilitation. In total, 11 individuals earned their GEDs and 22 completed the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Program.

These achievements would not be possible without our strong partnership with the West Georgia Technical College, whose commitment to second chances continues to change lives. We are grateful for their dedication and for everyone who invests in helping these individuals build a better future.
