The FBI contacted my office earlier today to report that it had intercepted mail containing a suspicious substance addressed to my district office, like others reported around the country. I am grateful to law enforcement for their efforts to keep my staff safe. Threats and attempts at intimidation are unacceptable and must not be tolerated.

At a recent hearing on securing our elections, I asked whether Congress can ban partisan gerrymandering used to pass racially discriminatory maps. The answer is simple. Yes, we can.

$2 million delivered to expand broadband on the Virginia Peninsula.

Reliable internet helps local businesses compete and grow, students do their schoolwork, and families stay connected. This funding will strengthen the fiber network connecting Newport News and Hampton to the rest of the region, so more homes and businesses get service they can count on.

That's an investment in the people and businesses here today, and in our future.

This raid follows a disturbing pattern of abusing the criminal justice system to seek retribution against political opponents. President Trump has repeatedly targeted Congresswoman Ilhan Omar with inflammatory rhetoric that has contributed to threats of violence against her. We cannot ignore the troubling timing of this raid, just weeks before an election in which Congresswoman Omar is on the ballot.

That’s the record of 100 Black Men of the Virginia Peninsula.

Glad to join them for breakfast in Newport News and celebrate the work they’re doing to open doors for young people across our community.
