This is what Saturdays look like at THRIVE! It’s the busiest day of the week for our Market, serving 4 families every 15 minutes. We host an outside volunteer group each week and this week it’s our very own Board of Directors- keeping them close to the mission! 💪♥️ Plus today we hosted RotaryNNVA who donated and installed more plants for our pollinator garden. Thank you to everyone who helps us serve on the weekend. Granting access and resources to working families is what we love to do! 🛒📚😊

📊 Fact Friday: Hunger in Virginia

Food insecurity affects more of our neighbors than you might think. Data collected by the Federation of Virginia Food Banks reveals the scope of food insecurity across our state and right here on the Peninsula.

🥫 42% of Virginians experience food insecurity, compared to 50% of people on the Virginia Peninsula.

👧 1 in 2 children live in households that experience food insecurity.

📈 Black and Hispanic households experience food insecurity at higher rates than white households, with rates of 63% and 53%, respectively.

❤️ 3 in 4 adults experiencing food insecurity have been diagnosed with one or more chronic health conditions.

Behind every statistic are individuals and families navigating difficult choices about putting food on the table and meeting other basic needs.

At THRIVE Peninsula, we believe everyone deserves access to nutritious food. Together, we can help meet that need and build a stronger, healthier community.

If you’ve been to THRIVE, you know we have plenty of trees around our building! 🌳 That makes keeping our gutters clear especially important.

We’re grateful to Carefree Gutter Guard for replacing our front K-guard gutter at no cost! Their generosity helps us maintain our building and keep things running smoothly for the families and volunteers who walk through our doors every day.

Thank you, Carefree Gutter Guard, for supporting THRIVE and investing in our community! 💙

As we conclude Hispanic Heritage Month, we continue to celebrate some of the dedicated volunteers who make Prosperar possible!

Our team of 16 volunteers represent 7 Latin countries: Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, and Bolivia. These volunteers bring a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and skills to support Spanish-speaking families in our community.

Through direct translation, Market assistance, and resource coordination, they help families feel welcomed and connected. Watch these video spotlights to meet some of our Prosperar volunteers and learn what inspires them to serve!

Sometimes, the impact of having access to groceries goes beyond what’s on the table.

For this family, picking up their groceries from a THRIVE To Go locker gave them more than food, it gave them the flexibility to get what they needed and spend more quality time together at home.

We’re grateful that THRIVE To Go lockers can help make getting groceries a little easier and create more opportunities for families to connect. 💙

A big thank you to American Pride Automotive for making a difference in our community through their State Inspection for the Community program!

This September, $5 from every state inspection went to THRIVE Peninsula to help provide food and resources for our neighbors. 🥫 Together, this year's program raised an incredible $3,940 for THRIVE!

We're grateful for community partners like American Pride Automotive who turn everyday services into meaningful support for local families.

Thank you for helping our neighbors thrive, one inspection at a time! ❤️

📚 Inspiration can turn into action!

We’re grateful for a young community member who was inspired by a THRIVE presentation at her church and decided to make a difference.

She organized a book drive to benefit THRIVE and filled up our donation cart with a beautiful collection of books for our Free Bookstore! 📖💙

We love seeing young people find meaningful ways to serve their community—and we’re thankful for the thought, effort, and generosity behind this special donation.

Thank you for helping put more books into the hands of our neighbors! ❤️
