Date: Tuesday, October 20th Time: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM – Schedule for the day will follow shortly, it will be posted in Sapphire and on the announcements, so please keep an eye out for it. Middle School Career Exploration Program- October 1st
Dear Middle School Guardians, Newport School District is committed to providing students with meaningful career awareness experiences that help them explore future opportunities and develop important employability skills. On Thursday, October 1, all middle school students will participate in The YES! Program, presented by Junior Achievement of South-Central PA. This program is provided to our students at no cost. Throughout the day, community and parent volunteers will lead hands-on, interactive workshops focused on career readiness, entrepreneurship, and personal finance. These activities are designed to help students understand the connection between education, career choices, and financial decision-making as they prepare for their future. Students should come to school prepared to engage, be respectful, and dress appropriately. We are excited to offer this valuable experience and encourage you to talk with your child about what they learned. Sharing your own career journey and experiences can further enrich their understanding of the many opportunities available to them. Thank you for your continued support. Travel Club

Dear Families,

We wanted to take a moment and introduce ourselves and the NHS Travel Club. We, Amy Shomper and Carla Ebling, are the advisors for the NHS Travel Club. We have traveled with students to many different places within the USA and internationally. We have experience flying with students and using vans and busses with students. We have knowledge in getting passports, what to pack, and anything related to travel. We organize a bunch of fundraisers throughout the year to help off-set the cost of these trips. This past summer we took a group to Costa Rica and those students came back wanting to travel more. Some of those students will be at our informational night to share their experiences and answer questions. We are thrilled to share that we’re heading to Italy and Greece in Summer 2027, and to London, Paris, and Madrid in 2028. We would love for your student to join us! This is an incredible opportunity for students to explore new places, experience different cultures, and gain lifelong skills like independence and confidence. We’ll be sharing all the details, including what we’ll see and do, hands-on learning activities, academic opportunities, trip costs, and how to secure a spot at our informational meeting.

JA YES! Volunteers Needed
Good afternoon, I am reaching out to you today about an IMPORTANT need we have for volunteers for an exciting event happening at Newport Middle School on Thursday, October 1st. Junior Achievement of South-Central PA will bring the YES! program to the middle school from approximately 8:00 AM–11:20 AM. All students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades will participate in activities designed to help them understand the importance of the financial and career decisions they will make as young adults. Bringing this program to the entire school in one day takes A LOT of volunteers, and we need your help! Volunteers will facilitate one activity four times throughout the morning with small groups of students. You do not need any specific background or experience to volunteer! JA will provide training the morning of the event, and once you sign up, you will receive a link to written instructions and a brief training video to help you feel prepared. You can also learn more by checking out the Volunteer Overview and informational video linked in the attached flyer or by visiting our website: YES! Volunteer Training A few important details: No specific background or training is required.School clearances are not required for this one-day event.The school will provide a light breakfast.Volunteers should plan to be available for the entire event from approximately 8:00 AM–11:20 AM.
