Week 6 of the Campbell County Citizens’ Academy brought participants to the Campbell County Public Library (CCPL) Newport Branch for an evening focused on the services and resources that help keep our community connected.

County Attorney Steve Franzen discussed the role and responsibilities of his office, while Jennifer Teipel introduced participants to Campbell Media and its work serving Campbell County residents.

Chantelle Phillips welcomed the class to the Campbell County Public Library (CCPL) Newport Branch and led a tour of the facility, providing a behind-the-scenes look at the library and the resources available to the community.

One of the biggest takeaways was that every county resident should get a library card! Besides books, e-books, audio books and movies you also get access to video games, genealogy research and vinyl records. You can even check out a telescope!

Thank you to Steve, Jennifer and Chantelle for sharing their time and expertise with the Citizens’ Academy Class of 2026!

With just two weeks remaining, the class will meet next Monday at the Campbell County Senior & Wellness Center in Highland Heights for Week 7.

The regular meeting of the Campbell County Fiscal Court originally scheduled for October 21st has been cancelled. The next regular meeting of the Campbell County Fiscal Court will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 9:00 AM ET / 8:00 AM PM CT at the Alexandria Courthouse, 8352 E Main Street, Alexandria, KY.

🚨TRAVEL ADVISORY: Saturday, Oct. 17🚨

On Saturday, Oct. 17, law enforcement officials may have temporary travel restrictions on area highways and state routes to support traffic flow and security associated with President Trump's visit to Truist Arena in Campbell County.

Folks should expect traffic delays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. with the most significant delays happening between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Plan ahead and check GPS navigation before leaving for your destination to avoid delays.

𝗥𝗶𝗯𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗖𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗣𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗹

Campbell County Fiscal Court will celebrate the Pendery Sports Park Nature Trail with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m.

Developed through a partnership with Campbell Conservancy, the trail provides residents with an opportunity to explore nature and learn about the plants and wildlife found in Campbell County.

Among the area's native plants is the locally rare white turtlehead flower, which is found in fewer than 25% of Kentucky's counties and serves as a host plant for the Baltimore checkerspot butterfly.

The project highlights the importance of protecting natural areas, supporting native plants and creating spaces where residents can connect with nature.

Judge/Executive Steve Pendery is scheduled to attend the ceremony.

Join us as we celebrate the new trail and the work being done to improve Campbell County's parks and natural spaces.

The trail is located on the left side of the park entrance road, just past the "Pendery Park" entrance sign.

Campbell County Fiscal Court is joining thousands of participants across Kentucky and the country for the Great Central U.S. ShakeOut earthquake drill, Thursday, Oct. 15, at 10:15 a.m.

As part of Kentucky Earthquake Awareness Week, county employees will practice the three steps to staying safe during an earthquake: Drop, Cover and Hold On.

Emergency preparedness is an important part of keeping our community safe, and we're putting that message into practice by taking time to prepare ourselves.
