NCCC students inspire! Today twenty-seven students from all thirteen NCCC programs made the most of the opportunity to introduce NCUHS 9th & 10th Graders to the wonderful world of Career & Technical education at an assembly held in the NCUHS Auditorium. This is a timely moment as 'Application Season' at NCCC opens on December 1st, and many 9th and 10th grade students may consider a Career Center program as an integral part of their secondary education. It is always wise to make intentional, informed decisions and hearing from current students is a powerful place to start.

NCCC students spoke with pride and passion, wisdom and experience, enthusiasm and great sincerity about the benefits of applied learning, concurrent college classes, industry certifications, technical skill sets, work based learning experiences and the daily inspiration of learning that is relevant, engaging, and meaningful. What a great message to share!

Sincere thanks to Rhylnd Abel, Evan Bathalon, Keith Brown, Cassidie Burnett, Eva Bury, Sophie Corkins, Marina Cote, Eoin Comes, Emily Fortin, James Francis, Emma Gallien, Jeremy Glodgett, Luke Gray, Brody Heath, Brier Hinton, Jasmine Hinton, Annika Lantagne, Brooklyn Lewis, Ben Morse, Tripp Roberge, Jaiden Sargent, Jasmin Stebenne, Gemari Thompson, Idabelle Torres, Kris Tukis, Nell Urie, and Braydon Villeneuve.

Ella Cunningham has done it again. This talented artist is nearing completion on her second addition to NCCC, this time in the Welding & Metal Fabrication classroom. Day by day this mural has taken form and breathed life into this interior room adding lots of color and illustrating the art and science of welding, with a nod to Ben Wells the program instructor. Creativity blooms and inspires - great work Ella!

The annual NCCC/NCUHS College & Career Fair is back with a diverse and engaging group of 60 presenters from area resources, businesses and many post-secondary tech schools and colleges from the Northeast and beyond (Bishop's University, Quebec). Students from 9th through 12th grade have the opportunity to land a part-time job with local employers, network with military personnel and area resources, find a great college to visit and learn more about many career pathways.

Thanks to all the professionals who share time and knowledge with students. Kudos to Andrea Carbine, NCCC Work Based Learning Coordinator, who is the driving force behind this excellent event.

New year, new experiences, new scrubs! First year Health Sciences students are off to their initial clinical field placements at North Country Hospital. These placements provide an essential link between classroom curriculum and the real-world environment of professional practice and patient care across multiple career pathways including Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Maternal/Child, Occupational Therapy and Post-Op Med/Surgical just to name a few. Students have spent countless hours preparing including an orientation session at NC Hospital and multiple safety trainings; patient rights and HIPAA confidentiality, bloodborne pathogens, infection control and appropriate PPE. The final touch are new scrubs in the distinctive NCCC colors.

Thank you North Country Hospital for granting access to our NCCC students - this is such a privilege!

Thanks to Amy Maxwell, Health Sciences Instructor, for preparing the students for this new adventure.

NCCC is excited to announce that Andreah Ovitt has joined the Cosmetology Program as a full-time Instructor. What began as a long-term substitute assignment evolved into a permanent role. Andreah has a solid foundation in this industry and and has the inherent instincts of a great teacher. This transition reflects the value of building relationships, supporting students, and investing in high-quality career and technical education.

Andreah joins a program with a proud tradition and a stellar reputation. Pret Marsh established the program over twenty years ago and left her indelible stamp of both excellence and heart. Laurie Jacobs has continued, sustained and expanded the program into a Licensed Cosmetology School through her professionalism, immense work ethic and high standards. Andreah is a great addition to this program - welcome!

Women can, and do! NCCC & NCUHS students participated in the WOMEN CAN DO career exploration conference at Vermont State University Randolph on Oct 8, 2026 sponsored by Vermont Works for Women. This annual event offers students a day of active participation in career pathways historically considered non-traditional for women. Workshops ranged from STEM, Protective Services to many skilled trades. Students took advantage of the great weather and the guidance of dedicated mentors Elizabeth Alexander and Frank Carbonneau. Big hits were welding, running excavators and scaling fire and bucket truck ladders.

The North Country Supervisory Union invites community members to share their perspectives on school facilities through a community survey!

North Country Union High School and the North Country Career Center have served generations of students and families, and both facilities are now approaching 60 years of age. Aging building systems, changing educational needs, and PCB contamination have created important questions about the future of these facilities.

The anonymous survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain open through October 13. Your responses will help our Building Committee better understand and evaluate these needs.

To participate in the anonymous community survey, visit https://www.dgsurveys.com/r/northcountryfuture.

The NCCC Personal Care Closet and Community Food Pantry are up and running thanks to generous community members and multiple benefactors. These two resources are utilized by many students in the moment, and by many more on an ongoing basis. No judgement, no stigma, no strings attached!

The Community National Bank, health care professionals, NCCC students and instructors met recently at the Vermont Association of Hospitals and Health Systems (VAHHS) annual meeting hosted by Jay Peak, coordinating supplies and funding for both initiatives.

Students Bella Barrup, Regan Guillette, Jasmine Hinton, Grace Lombardi and Miley Rossi put in working hours, networked and gained valuable experience in organizing a community service event.

Thanks to VAHHS and the Community National Bank for their continued support.

If you are interested in donating to this worthwhile endeavor, you can reach out to Andrea Carbine at [email protected] or Heidi Santaw at [email protected]. These two are the brains, and more importantly the heart and soul ❤, of the NCCC Personal Care Closet and the NCCC Community Food Pantry.
