Staff Ride 2026 🇺🇸

This year, our cadets studied the Battle of Antietam, fought on September 17, 1862, near Sharpsburg, Maryland. Antietam became the bloodiest single day in American history, with roughly 23,000 soldiers killed, wounded, or missing.

Although the battle ended without a decisive tactical victory, the Union’s ability to stop Robert E. Lee’s invasion of the North gave President Abraham Lincoln the opportunity to issue the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.

Walking the battlefield gave our cadets the opportunity to study leadership, decision-making, communication, and Mission Command where history actually happened. Staff Ride 2026 challenged us to look beyond the battle itself and consider the lessons leaders can carry forward today.
