Leadership Okaloosa This 9 month experience is designed to enhance the participant's leadership skills and provide community awareness.

Leadership Okaloosa is an esteemed leadership training and development program with a 34 year history of being a vital part of Okaloosa County's growth and development of its leaders. Hosted from September to May, participants receive classroom training by certified instructors and are given opportunities to interact with various key community leaders throughout the process. Tours of key areas such as Destin, Crestview, Niceville, Valparaiso, Fort Walton Beach, Eglin Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field and Legislative Days in Tallahassee provide participants with a better understanding of the community. Additionally, each participant takes part in a group project to benefit the community while focusing on project management, time management and team building skills. Another important aspect of Leadership Okaloosa is the networking relationships forged that lead to long lasting personal and professional relationships. Leadership Okaloosa is hosted by the Northwest Florida State College Costa Leadership Institute with the support of the Crestview Area Chamber of Commerce, Destin Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Niceville Valparaiso Chamber of Commerce.

As a result, our Leadership Okaloosa training scheduled for tomorrow, October 8th, will be postponed.

♥️🖤🤍 Welcome, Leadership Okaloosa Class of 2026–2027! ♥️🖤🤍

And just like that, a new Leadership Okaloosa year has begun! Our newest class is officially starting their nine-month journey of learning, growing, building relationships, and connecting with the incredible community we call home.

A huge thank you to NWFSC President Mel Ponder for kicking off the day with an encouraging welcome, Commissioner Trey Goodwin for sharing county updates and great insight on leadership and decision-making, and Bobby Bess, our 2025–2026 Leader of the Year, for giving the class a glimpse of what they can look forward to this year.

We also want to thank Sarah Davis, NWFSC Leadership Trainer, for an amazing and engaging session on “From Reaction to Response.” What a great way to start our leadership journey!

A special shoutout to one of our own LO participants, Jae Baldizzi Kosior with RELI Marketing, for capturing these wonderful photos from Orientation Day! 📸 And a big thank you to Zack Thompson with NWFSC Strategic Communications for taking professional headshots of our Leadership Okaloosa participants. 📸

We truly appreciate everyone who helped make our first day such a success, especially our speakers and NWFSC team for sharing their time, talents, knowledge, and support.

We’re excited to see what the next nine months have in store for this group. Here’s to a great year, Leadership Okaloosa 2026–2027! ♥️🖤🤍
