We want to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who came out and supported Founder’s Day today! Events like this are a great reminder of why we do what we do and how fortunate we are to serve such a strong and supportive community.

We would also like to recognize and thank Spencer Fire Local 4050, Choctaw Fire Department and Forest Park Fire Rescue for joining us and showing their support.

The relationships we have with our neighboring departments are incredibly important. When our community needs assistance, these departments are always willing to answer the call and stand alongside us. Without their continued support, cooperation, and mutual aid, we would not be the department we are today.

From all of us at the Nicoma Park Fire Department, we say thank you to our community and our neighboring departments for standing with us. We are proud to serve alongside you! ❤️🚒

🍂🔥 FALL FIRE SAFETY REMINDER 🔥🍂

As fall approaches, now is the perfect time to take a few minutes to prepare your home for the upcoming season.

🏠 Change your HVAC air filter
A dirty or clogged air filter can restrict airflow, cause your heating system to work harder, and may contribute to a fire hazard. Check your filter regularly and replace it as needed.

🚨 Check your smoke detectors
Replace the batteries in your smoke detectors and test each alarm to make sure it is working properly. If your smoke detector is more than 10 years old, it may be time to replace the entire unit.

🧺 Clean your dryer vents
Lint buildup in your dryer and vent system can create a serious fire hazard. Clean your lint screen after every load and periodically inspect and clean the dryer vent to prevent dangerous lint buildup.

🔋 Don’t forget carbon monoxide detectors!
Check your CO detectors and replace batteries as needed.

These are simple tasks that are easy to forget, but taking a few minutes now can help keep you and your family safer throughout the fall and winter months.
