// Thursday, October 22 | 6 – 7:30 pm | Community Room | Ages 16+ //

Human Trafficking is often viewed as vulnerable people being snatched off the street or in a dark parking lot. The reality of trafficking is much more complex than that. This month's presentation: "Human Trafficking and the Medical System: Survivor Services" is presented by Alyssa Plimil, Forensic Nurse - Corewell Health.

This is a continuation of the multi-part series of educational presentations on human trafficking, covering topics ranging from Human Trafficking 101 and Human Trafficking and Technology to Identifying Exploitation Pathways of Vulnerable Populations, Labor Trafficking in Michigan, and more.

Presented by the Southwest Michigan Anti-Trafficking Task Force, a division of the Michigan Anti-Trafficking Project (MAP)

No registration required. You do not need a library card to attend this free event.

Do you currently (or want to) host your own book club? Thanks to Michigan Humanities, we are able to offer the Great Michigan Read book club kit. The current Great Read is Curtis Chin's "Everything I Learned, I Learned in a Chinese Restaurant." Up to 10 readers can participate and the kit comes with all of the resources you need to have a great discussion. Interested? Stop by and checkout the kit for your club - the kit is available at the Checkout Desk.

Since 2007, the Great Michigan Read, the signature program of Michigan Humanities, has united communities across the state through Michigan-centered fiction and non-fiction books. These selections inspire conversations from diverse perspectives, foster a deeper appreciation for the humanities, and connect thousands of readers with authors and engaging educational programs.
