🎃👻 HALLOWEEN DECORATION SAFETY 🎃👻
We love seeing Kanawha County get into the Halloween spirit! If you have already decorated, or about to start decorating, take a few minutes to make sure your haunted house is safe, too.
Choose flameless candles. Use battery-operated candles in pumpkins and around decorations to reduce the risk of fire.
Check your cords. Inspect electrical cords and string lights for damage, and avoid overloading outlets or extension cords.
Keep exits clear. Make sure decorations don't block doorways, windows, sidewalks, or other escape routes in an emergency.
Watch for fire hazards. Keep decorations made of dried leaves, cornstalks, paper, and other flammable materials away from open flames, heaters, and light bulbs that produce heat.
Decorate for the weather. Secure outdoor decorations so they don't blow away in strong winds, and use outdoor-rated lights and extension cords outside.
Light the way! Keep walkways and steps well-lit and free of cords, props, and other tripping hazards for trick-or-treaters.
A little planning can keep your Halloween decorations spooky without making them dangerous!
